(SEATTLE) While the air is clearing a little today, for a few hours yesterday, Seattle had the dubious distinction of having the worst air quality in the world.
When you think of bad air around the globe, Dubai and parts of China come to mind. Midday yesterday, the smoke in Seattle gave us the planet’s worst air quality for a couple of hours.
Doctor Cora Sack at UW Medicine warns all this smoke means there’s a lot of chemical and small particles in the air that you want to try and avoid breathing in. She says when those small particles get into your bloodstream, there’s trouble. So if you smell smoke, close the windows, and if you have to go out, wear an n-95 mask.
As forecast, winds have shifted, and already we’re getting relief from the smoke today.
But we may not be done.
Another possible wind shift over the weekend could bring smoke back into the metro area.
