NTSB: Right wing ‘separated in flight’ before Friday crash

(SNOHOMISH, Wash.) — The National Transportation Safety Board says the right wing of a Cessna 208B detached from the fuselage before the plane went down near Harvey Airfield Friday afternoon.

All four people on board were killed. Their identities have not been released.

The plane had taken off from Renton Municipal Airport at around 9:30am. The crash happened around 10:20am in an agricultural field while the plane was maneuvering near the airfield.

The detached wing was located roughly 200 yards from the rest of the plane. The wreckage has been recovered and taken to a secure area for reconstruction.

A preliminary report is expected in two to three weeks, but a full investigation could take up to two years.
