Fall moves in, smoke moves out

(SEATTLE) Our last day of summer will remain smoky.

Normally, the last day of summer around here means highs in the 70s and blue skies as far as you can see. Today, we may see some blue, but asthma sufferer Sarah Howe will keep her mask on.

“I’m wearing it outside to keep me from ending up in the emergency room, or having to have somebody come out,” she tells KOMO-4.

According to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, air quality is still moderate, and there’s still plenty of smoke over the region from the Bolt Creek Fire. That smoke will continue to move west today according to the National Weather Service. Meteorologist Jeff Michelski says the wind will change directions by tomorrow, and that will really start to clear the air above the metro area.

He adds there’s rain in the forecast for the Cascades, which will also help clean the air, and dampen the prospects of more fires.
