Deadline reports that Paramount has secured the rights to Varsity Spirit’s Pro Cheer League, the first professional cheerleading league of its kind. The league will launch in January 2026 with teams based in Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, and San Diego. Paramount is betting on the growing mainstream appeal of competitive cheer as it evolves into an organized, monetizable sport. MGM+ has greenlit a four-part true crime docuseries on The Hillside Strangler, set to premiere in January. The series will feature exclusive interviews with the lead detective and revisit the infamous late-1970s Los Angeles murders committed by cousins Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, offering an in-depth look at one of the city’s most chilling crime sprees—with ties to Washington State. Netflix has officially canceled the planned Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis boxing match, which was scheduled for next Friday in Miami. The decision follows a civil lawsuit filed against Davis, alleging battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping. Despite the cancellation, Netflix confirmed that Jake Paul will still headline a new live boxing event later in 2025, with a new opponent and location to be announced.
