October 6. On this day in history, Nabisco introduced Cream of Wheat in 1893. In 1945, Cubs fan Billy Goat Sianis brought his goat to Game 4 of the World Series—he was kicked out, and the infamous "curse of the goat" was born. In 1965, The Supremes released “I Hear a Symphony.” The Beatles’ videos for “Hey Jude” and “Revolution” aired in the U.S. for the first time in 1968 on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. In 1979, Pope John Paul II became the first pope to visit the White House. In 1993, Michael Jordan shocked fans by retiring from the NBA—he returned in 1995 and led the Bulls to three more titles. In 2021, the World Health Organization recommended the first malaria vaccine for children.
