As America marks 250 years, Northwest Newsradio is celebrating from the real Washington.
Hosted by Scott Carty, America Northwest looks at the people, places, industries, and traditions that connect Washington state to the larger American story. The special travels from the backyard grill to the ballpark, from the State Archives to the Smithsonian, and from Fourth of July celebrations to the future of Washington’s role in the country.
Guests include Seattle chef Ethan Stowell, pie expert Kate McDermott, and longtime Mariners broadcaster Rick Rizzs, who reminisces about the 1995 season, Dave Niehaus, Ken Griffey Jr., and the history of baseball in Seattle.
America Northwest also explores Washington wine, beer, and spirits; the state’s influence on music and culture; the service members stationed at Western Washington’s naval bases; and Washington’s role in medical breakthroughs that have saved countless lives.
With reports from across the state and stories rooted in Washington’s past, present, and future, America Northwest is a celebration of how the Northwest has helped shape America’s first 250 years.
