For more than four decades Bill Swartz has been the most versatile talent in Seattle radio. He’s an award-winning radio news and sports anchor, has been a network talk show host, Play-by-play voice, Comedy sketch writer and voice impersonator. Bill’s love for radio began with writing and delivering the high school morning announcements. Swartz found his radio journalism calling in the Washington State University communications department, graduating in 1978. He was recently inducted into the Murrow College Hall of Achievement. His big sports break came in 1982 as radio voice of the Kirkland, WA Little League Baseball World Series Champs. At KOMO radio in 1989 Bill became sideline reporter for University of Washington football, and first play-by-play voice of Husky women’s basketball. During 10 years as KIRO radio sports director, Swartz covered Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl games, Seattle Sounders network reporter, and Seattle Mariners network pre-game and hot stove league host. In 2012 and 2022, Bill earned the RTNDA Edward R. Murrow regional award for radio sports reporting. In 2019, Associated Press voted his KOMO radio Thursday Night Dawg House best sports show and reporting for major radio markets in the Western U.S. He’s currently sports anchor and host of KNWN radio’s public affairs show, Puget Sound Now.
