The Midday Report with Scott Carty

Scott Carey
Scott Carty brings a lifetime of local stories to Northwest Newsradio. Being raised on a Whidbey Island family compound started Scott on a path of interviewing interesting people–his elders. His grandmother started his fascination with radio, listening to AM 1000 and Paul Harvey. His great aunt encouraged Scott to write. His other grandma and great uncle taught Scott to get his hands dirty in the garden and to build everything from fences to wood sheds. After completing his degree at the now Murrow College at Washington State University, Scott drove directly to KISM-FM in Bellingham. Months later and back in the big city at KPLZ-FM and KVI-AM, Scott began as a Copywriter while also doing on-air shifts and voicework. By 1996, both stations merged with AM 1000 and the chance to work with legends he grew up listening to, including Larry Nelson. Through more than 20 years with Fisher Communications, Scott became a Creative Services Director and worked his way into covering Entertainment on KOMO 4 TV. Soon after, he began flying to Hollywood, New York, London and beyond for sit-down TV interviews with A-list movie stars. His interviews aired on KOMO TV and, later, on nationally-syndicated Celebrity Page and The Daily Buzz.  In 2018, Scott became the Morning Host of a local music station. As the Covid Pandemic changed everything in 2020, it also changed Scott’s career for the past five years. He started his own small construction company to build custom sheds as home offices for people working from home. That led to also building outdoor dining for many of Seattle’s top restaurants, along with custom outdoor saunas, garages and pergolas for residences.  Now, back at Northwest Newsradio, Scott joins longtime colleagues and gets back to what he truly loves – using his voice to tell stories that inform and entertain you.
Scott has two grown children and has lived in Seattle since 1993. He continues to do voiceovers for clients and more than 25 years of voice acting on the popular Nancy Drew interactive game series.
