Depending on the time of day, getting through the security checkpoint at Sea-Tac Airport during the busy summer travel season can take as much as an hour.
With the SEA Spot Saver program, you can make a reservation, show up at the appointed time, and skip the long line.
“You can go in 72 hours in advance of your flight, sign up, and basically get a reservation spot for the checkpoint line within a 15-minute slot,” said Perry Cooper, senior manager of media relations at SEA. “This can essentially cut your wait time in half or even more, depending on how long the lines are at the time that you’re checking in, because essentially, you’re going into a separate line that will jump you ahead of the general TSA check-in line.”
SEA Spot Saver is available at the busiest times of day – 5a.m. to 1p.m. daily. You cannot use the system if you have TSA PreCheck or have signed up with CLEAR. You can make a reservation for a group traveling together. There is no account registration or login required, just flight information.
“This is not about showing up at the last minute,” Cooper noted. “The idea is that you want to get through quickly, but still have plenty of time to get to your gate and be checked in.”
