Dick’s Drive-In announces ninth location

A local favorite for nearly seven decades makes a rare announcement: a new location.

A whole lot of us love to eat at Dick’s Drive-In, and soon you’ll have another option for grabbing a Deluxe and fries with the ninth Dick’s coming soon to Federal Way.

Jasmine Donovan, Dick Spady’s granddaughter, and now president of the company, says this Dick’s will be free-standing like the originals, but it will be a little different.  “It’s going to look very similar to our Kent location and our other stand-alone classic restaurants,” Donovan says, “There won’t be parking immediately in front of it, so we’ll have kind of an overextended pedestrian patio area, and all the parking will be to the side.  It’s in the Merlone Geier Commons At Federal Way shopping center.  The brand new Amazon Fresh is going to be right behind us.  We’re going to be right along Highway 99.  It’s going to be a great spot for high school students, college students, families, kids.  It’s just such a great area with so many people coming together.”

Donovan tells Northwest Newsradio the family has always been touched by the memories from people who had significant life moments at their local Dick’s, whether it’s the place where they met their future spouses or shared some other special moment over burgers and fries eaten off the hood of the car.  She says the Spady family is also grateful after the pandemic forced them to eliminate their “change for charity” boxes because people paying with credit and debit cards are “rounding up for charity” to keep helping the cause.
