Denise Whitaker

Northwest Newsradio Anchor

Life is an adventure!  That’s how Denise Whitaker lives her life.

She is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who’s been reporting the day’s news in western Washington for more than 20 years.  More than covering breaking news locally, Denise traveled to Haiti, Hawaii and the White House for major stories and in 2023, she flew with the Blue Angels ahead of SeaFair.

Denise’s passion for storytelling includes any subject matter, but she is most passionate about health and wellness and the military. Her husband, Terron Lindholme, was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army.  Married 33 years, they spend as much time as possible boating.  They also enjoy riding motorcycles (on matching Honda ST 1300 bikes) and mountain biking. She grew up in and around Chicago, but called six states home, before moving to Washington.

In 2005 Denise climbed her first mountain, Mt. Baker, as a fundraiser for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.  She became a volunteer for the Climb and subsequently made more than a dozen additional summits up Mounts Rainier, Baker, Adams, Hood, Shasta, Shuksan and two volcanoes in Mexico. While Denise prefers being outside, she also finds fun adventures in her kitchen, creating healthy recipes. Denise approaches every day as a new opportunity for personal growth and it always looking for opportunities to inspire others to do their best at whatever they choose.

Brian Calvert

Northwest Newsradio Anchor

Brian is one of the original members of our news team, here since day one when we began the all-news format.  You may also remember seeing him on KOMO 4 TV regularly reading the news and delivering your weather forecast.
“I think this position, by far, is my favorite radio job to date,” he says about co-hosting the morning news. “Not only do I get to work alongside Denise and the rest of our team helping people start their day informed, I still have the opportunity to tell my stories.”  Brian is a regional and national Edward R. Murrow Award-winning reporter. And his feature stories are a favorite of Northwest Newsradio listeners.
He’s been a part of radio and television in the Pacific Northwest for well over three decades. His career began in the late 1980s in southern Oregon where he first learned radio broadcasting at KAJO under the tutelage of the Wilson family. From there, he went on to anchor the morning news for KXL in Portland in the 1990s. Just after the turn of the century, he migrated north to Seattle, and in the summer of 2002, Brian was lured from KIRO to help launch the all-news KOMO Radio (now Northwest Newsradio). He’s also worked on television, anchoring the news and weather locally for KOMO 4 and Northwest Cable News.
Brian and his family call West Seattle home, where he enjoys long walks along Alki Beach. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, road trips, and hosting and emceeing events for local charities.
