Interstate Five down to one lane: Part 2

In spite of rain in the forecast, work will continue this weekend on one of the region’s largest road construction projects. And that means you need to prepare for southbound I-5 being narrowed down to just one lane.

Amy Moreno at the Washington Department of Transportation says the contractor will continue to replace worn expansion joints on the freeway this weekend, working in the right lanes. That means several exits will be closed, including Forest Street, Colombian Way, and Spokane Street.

The work begins again this evening at 7:30, and will continue through early Monday morning. And it means southbound I-5 will be narrowed to just one lane between I-90 and the West Seattle Bridge.

But wait, there are more closures this weekend

Drivers will have a few additional obstacles this weekend:

  • SR-99 Tunnel closure, both directions Friday overnight
  • I-5 Express Lanes through Seattle closed all weekend due to work on the new SR-520 ramp
  • SR-599 closed in both directions Saturday night between 99 and 133rd

Be sure to listen to Northwest Newsradio throughout the weekend for updates every ten minutes on the 4s.
