Gas prices hit new record

Filling up the car keeps getting more expensive.

The nationwide average for a gallon of regular busted through the $5 mark for the first time in history last week.

We’re already way past that here in Washington state.

And there’s no end in sight, as we head into the peak summer driving season.

People want to drive, and refineries cannot keep up with the demand. Plus, global oil prices continue to climb because of the war in Ukraine.

Some predict that the national average will be close to $6 a gallon before the end of summer. And that’s without any unforeseen problems, like a refinery shutdown.
