(OLYMPIA) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says two Washington counties should now strongly consider mandating mask wearing, as COVID cases jumped this week.

According to the agency’s map, five counties in the Northwest…three in Oregon and two here…are now in the red.

Residents in both Clallam and Jefferson Counties are strongly advised to wear masks indoors.

After several days hovering around 2-THOUSAND cases per day, Washington is now back up to over 31-hundred daily cases with a 14-day average of 23-hundred.

Officials remain concerned that a majority of new cases are being diagnosed at home. An estimate earlier in the Spring from the U-W predicted state may only be aware of 13% of the actual number of COVID positives.
