Think loyalty rewards programs, and you probably think about those offered by hotels and airlines.
These days, inflation is making retail loyalty rewards more important than ever – and a great way to save.
According to a new survey by LendingTree, 80% of adults in this country are members of at least one loyalty program – whether it’s a supermarket, drugstore, or big box retailer.
The ability to earn points translates into discounts, free stuff, or other perks.
As LendingTree’s chief credit analyst Matt Schulz, puts it: “Smaller, regular purchases at grocery stores, restaurants, pet shops and drugstores can add up to real meaningful rewards in a pretty big hurry. And with rampant inflation, that matters.”
Keep in mind: Retailers have loyalty programs to increase business. They’re hoping to entice you to spend more and shop more often. As long as YOU are in control, and stick to your budget, that shouldn’t be a problem. Spending more than you can afford to chase rewards, is counterproductive.
