If you started your college education but never finished it, one local college is offering money to get you back.
Among the big goals of The Evergreen State College is to keep costs down and to graduate students with as little debt as possible, and this new $750 scholarship offered to 100 former Evergreen students is designed to help with that.
Evergreen’s Kelly Von Holtz says it started when their new chief enrollment officer said, “A lot of people start college and, for whatever reason, life happens, and sometimes you stop and you tell yourself you’re going back and, for whatever reason, there never seems to be a good time. So, what if we were able to offer a scholarship to entice ‘Greeners’ to return.” Von Holtz says that degree can often be a key to advancement and higher pay, and their continuing and professional education programs are geared for working adults.
The $75,000 for the scholarship comes from donations made to the school’s foundation.
