A look at Black Friday sales

Today it’s turkey. Tomorrow it’s shopping. While there are lots of Black Friday deals, don’t expect too many extraordinary doorbusters this year.

“Retailers have been advertising Black Friday sales all month, and many of the sales began this week, this past Sunday or Monday, so the question is how much is really going to be left in the stores if you go out on Black Friday itself,” said consumer advocate Edgar Dworsky, publisher of ConsumerWorld.org. “And to be honest, retailers have ruined the fun of the real Black Friday, where everyone would line up at 5 a.m. in the morning and have a mad rush into the store to find the items.”

While you can still head to the store, you can now get most Black Friday deals without leaving your house.

“Typically, they’re going to be in both locations, but they tend to be online first, so, check online before you go to the store,” Dworsky said.

Something may still be online, even if it’s sold out at the store. If it’s something special you’re looking for, you may want to check online and save yourself a trip.”
