(EVERETT, Wash.) — The man at the center of Monday’s standoff at the Snohomish County Courthouse was heavily armed and demanding his gun rights be restored, according to court documents.
The suspect, whom KNWN is not yet naming because he hasn’t been formally charged, came to the courthouse wanting to speak with two judges and the sheriff. Police reports indicate he was demanding they change his parenting plan and restore his gun rights, which had been revoked in October due to an Extreme Risk Protection Order.
The standoff lasted for more than three hours and resulted in the lockdown of the entire Snohomish County administrative campus. Roads were closed in a two-block radius around the courthouse.
The man eventually gave up without anyone being injured, but officers discovered he was armed with two high-powered rifles, four handguns, six knives, a hatchet, brass knuckles, and more than 300 rounds of ammunition. He was also wearing several layers of body armor.
He has been jailed on suspicion of intimidating a judge, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, disorderly conduct, and other crimes. Bail was set at $1 million.
