Some sweet citrus treats that are packed with fiber and vitamin C

When it comes to citrus, satsumas are standouts.

“The insides are seedless, they’re really easy to peel, and they are so juicy,” said Lindsay Moyer, senior nutritionist at the Center for Science in the Public Interest. “If you like clementines, these are even better – and they’re just perfectly sized for snacking, too.”

The super-sized Sumo is another citrus treat.  It’s pricey, but worth a try, if you can afford it.

“This looks like a bumpy orange that’s about the size of a small grapefruit,” Moyer said. “It’s a hybrid of oranges, satsuma and mandarins.”

Because they’re so large, each Sumo citrus is packed with fiber and potassium, and more than your daily value of vitamin C – all for about 150 calories.

“Sumos are one of my favorite types of citrus because they are so sweet and so juicy, they’re only a little bit tart. And unlike a lot of oranges that are larger size, these are so easy to peel,” Moyer told me.

Just make sure you have a napkin handy!
