D&D therapy: Local study finds tabletop roleplaying games can help young people work through their issues

A Seattle-based study finds tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons provide useful “sandboxes” in which young people can develop critical social skills. A key takeaway: Under the supervision of a “therapeutic dungeon master” the games provide a safe, controlled environment for kids and young adults to practice key social-emotional learning (SEL) skills.
