Large crowds move through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Monday June 19, 2023
Father’s Day and the Juneteenth Holiday made for a busy weekend of air travel.
“Check point number 2 for left behind item” large crowds could be seen coming and going all day Monday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
This new holiday weekend hits roughly six months after the Big Southwest Christmas meltdown “Not so bad since then” says Melissa West, but she vividly remembers the nightmare “We lost luggage during the meltdown and since then we’ve traveled a few times and so far, nothing has gone wrong.”
Back in December, weather forced thousands of flight cancellations and left tens of thousands stranded. But outdated technology got most of the blame.
“Lost drivers license on the airplane, in the airport, somewhere” Alex and Ed Pridgen aren’t happy with their SeaTac experience as they try to get back to Kansas City “SeaTac is a Zoo” Ed says, as they both laugh nervously “The chaos to get the bus to the hotel, the lines are horrendous and there’s no direction.”
“We are going to Oakland” There were the usual problems, but nothing major. “No drama” says Aaron Erickson who was meeting up with friends for an Alaskan cruise “One of our parties had a little issue with their luggage; it appeared to be damaged, but they took care of that and they’re on the way to the boat.”
74-year-old Aubby Middleton had a luggage problem of his own “The bags came in on-time, but they took it to the large bag (drop off) instead of the small one, so I had a hard time finding it” but overall, he was happy with the trip from Pittsburgh.
The challenges are constant in the airline industry; and most air travelers know just about every trip to the airport is different.
