You can see Dick’s Drive-In president Jasmine Donovan’s complete interview with Northwest Newsradio’s Ryan Harris in the video below:

A lot of people in our area love Dick’s, and now there’s another option for you to snag a Deluxe and fries.

The new Dick’s at the Federal Way Commons is what company president, and Dick Spady’s granddaughter, Jasmine Donovan, calls “deceptively close” to the Kent location, but Donovan tells Northwest Newsradio it was a site they had their eyes on when they looked for a south end location.  Donovan says, “I was actually riding in the car with Mayor [Jim] Ferrell, around Federal Way with my dad, looking at different sites, and we just really loved this one in Federal Way.”  Donovan says it didn’t work out back then, but then something didn’t work out in the Commons, so she says it was meant to be that they found this site.

The lot allows for their modern design, with a bigger store that has two grills instead of one and six windows instead of four so they can serve more people quickly, but Donovan says it also fits Dick’s original plan…a plan she discovered when she found an old map with census information and locations circled by Dick Spady and his original partners when they were scoping out the first locations around Seattle for the original Dick’s Drive-Ins.  “It was important to them when they were finding sites that Dick’s Drive-Ins would be on your way to or from home,” Donovan says, “and some of these shopping centers are really great sites for that.”

The grand opening of the Federal Way Dick’s includes three days of fun and festivities with music, face painting, a photo booth and Dick’s merch through Saturday.
