Breaking down PFAS: UW researchers say they’ve solved a vexing environmental problem

Using a “supercritical water” reactor, UW researchers say they can break down the strong chemical bonds that make PFAS useful for fire foam and non-stick cookware. These chemicals leech into the water supply and cause immune-system problems in humans, along with an increased risk of cancer and other health issues. Click play to hear Corwin Haeck’s report.
