(OLYMPIA) Police across the South Sound are still looking for the group responsible for a series of “smash-and-grab” robberies at five different cannabis stores.
Detectives aren’t yet saying the robberies are connected, but each share similarities.
The first happened back on October 23rd, when video surveillance captured images of a car driven through the front window of a store in rural Pierce County. A group gets out of the car, grabs a bunch of merchandise, then races away in another car. Both cars were stolen.
It appears there is a connection between this, and four more incidents last week in Olympia, Tacoma, and Auburn. THe two most recent robberies happened over the weekend.
Mike Redman owns one of the stores hit by the thieves. He tells the News Tribune While the break-ins are frightening and damaging, he thinks the crew of thieves isn’t too smart. After all, They grabbed low-level marijuana and little else.
“It is kind of strange that they’re doing all that work and really not getting much out of this,” Redman says.
His store lost $300 in merchandise. Damages to the stores front door and windows will costs thousands to repair.
