The machine was conceived in May, shortly after a leaked draft opinion signaled the U.S. Supreme Court’s intention to strike down Roe v. Wade. University of Washington student government representatives noted that “access to abortion and contraceptive healthcare is limited” by barriers including race, gender and health insurance coverage.
