Rick Moranis is making his long-awaited return to live-action film, suiting up once again as Dark Helmet in Spaceballs 2. Production kicked off with a table read featuring Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, and George Wyner, with Josh Gad and comedy legend Mel Brooks co-writing and producing. Brooks will also reprise his roles as Yogurt and President Skroob in the “Non-Prequel, Non-Reboot Sequel with Reboot Elements,” slated for a 2027 theatrical release.
In other nostalgic news, Air Bud is bouncing back to the big screen with Air Bud Returns, set for 2026. The film introduces two new Golden Retrievers, Charlie and Summer, who were selected from more than 5,000 hopefuls nationwide. Director Robert Vince said the duo stood out for their personality, presence, and undeniable basketball skills, capturing the same magic that made the original franchise a family favorite.
