Ohtani Scandal Heads to Starz

Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2 scored a historic debut on Netflix, becoming the streamer’s biggest U.S. opening weekend for an original film with 46.7 million views in just three days. The sequel’s success also reignited interest in the 1996 original, which climbed to No. 3 on Netflix’s global Top 10 with 11.4 million views.

Meanwhile, Starz is developing a scripted drama series inspired by the Shohei Ohtani gambling scandal. The show will explore Ohtani’s rise to MLB superstardom and the shocking actions of his former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, who allegedly stole nearly $17 million to fund illegal gambling.
