Shutdown threatens food benefits for millions

(WASHINGTON, DC) – With no end in sight, the shutdown of the federal government is now threatening SNAP benefits for millions of Americans. SNAP, the successor to Food Stamps, provides funding for the poorest of citizens to buy food. We’ve heard from our Democratic representatives about the shutdown, and this week a Washington Republican was able to find some time to talk to us.
