On this date in history July 30th.  In 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed legislation creating the Women’s Auxiliary Voluntary Emergency Service, or WAVES, a groundbreaking step for women in the U.S. Navy. In 1948, professional wrestling made its prime-time television debut on the DuMont Network, kicking off decades of wrestling entertainment. In 1974, the House Judiciary Committee voted to impeach President Nixon on a third charge—he resigned before facing trial. In 1986, Variety reported that RCA dropped John Denver after he released “What Are We Making Weapons For,” a song that didn’t sit well with RCA’s new owner,
