November 26.  On this day in 1789, President George Washington used Thanksgiving Day to honor the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, marking the first national celebration of the holiday. In 1922, archaeologist Howard Carter stepped into the tomb of King Tut, unveiling one of history’s greatest discoveries. The 29th Heisman Trophy in 1963 went to Navy quarterback Roger Staubach. Five years later, in 1968, USC running back O.J. Simpson claimed the 34th Heisman.
